In Spring 2013, the TRI Program challenged the academic community to find innovative and creative uses of TRI data and related information to promote more informed decision-making and action on the part of communities, manufacturers, and government.
2013 Challenge Results
EPA received 17 applications in response to the 2013 Challenge and announced 8 academic partners for the 2013-2014 school year.
The eight project proposals that were selected for the inaugural year of the TRI University Challenge came from faculty and students at the following academic institutions:
- Drew University – Environmental Studies and Sustainability
- Huston-Tillotson University – Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies
- Indiana University-Bloomington – School of Public Health
- SUNY Plattsburg – Center for Earth and Environmental Science
- University of California, Los Angeles – Institute of the Environment and Sustainability
- University of Washington, Bothell – Digital Future Lab and School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences
- University of Wisconsin, Green Bay – Natural and Applied Sciences
- Washington University in St. Louis – Brown School of Social Work and Public Health
